Samuel Vimes is a rugged, middle-aged man with a weathered, cynical face, short dark hair flecked with gray, and perpetual stubble on his chin. He is usually seen in the uniform of Ankh-Morpork's City Watch, a worn breastplate or trenchcoat paired with a battered helmet or captain's hat.
