» Get Better Soon. From Alzheimer's?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7141458.stm

Quote:
Author Terry Pratchett is suffering from a rare form of early Alzheimer's disease, it has been revealed.

I should make a joke here about having spotted this coming, how he repeated himself with Lords and Ladies/Carpe Jugulum and Going Postal/Making Money, but I just can't.

Here's hoping he's alright. Well, as alright as he can be, anyway.

» The Colour of Magic Website
In swift succession to our previous news post on a similar theme, it appears that Sky One have created a website for The Colour of Magic.

It's looking rather nice and features what will hopefully be an oft-updated blog and photo gallery, as well as some other neat items including an updated cast list and some nice facts about Terry and Discworld.

» MoistMakesMoney.com
Apparently Moist von Lipwig has discovered the joys of the interweb and his latest tale has it's very own website courtesy of Harper Collins - the book's US publisher.

There's a challenge (though it's hard to work out if there's a prize), some information and a link to Moist on Myspace - proof that everyone's on a social networking site nowadays!

» The Colour of Magic Cast Update
Several more cast members were announced a last month for the upcoming adaptation of The Colour of Magic by Sky and The Mob Film Company.

Quote:
Among the other actors: Nigel Planer is the Arch-Astronomer, Marnix again appears as Death, Nicholas Tennant (who played Corporal Nobbs in Hogfather) is the Librarian (prior to transformation), and Terry will again appear in a cameo role.

David Bradley, who plays Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films, will be playing Cohen the Barbarian. Laura Haddock plays Bethan and Herrena (the Henna-Haired Harridan) is played by Liz May Brice.

Apologies again for the late news!

Slightly more recently, the following cast members were announced over at Discworld Monthly:

Quote:
James Cosmo will play Galder Ridcully, Liz May Brice will be Herrena and Karen David will be flying Dragons in the role of Leissa.

A full cast list can be found at the IMDB website. Thanks to Von Lipwig for spotting that!

» "Making Money" Release Date
Making Money is to be released on the 24th of September, and sees the return of Moist von Lipwig, a character we're first introduced to in Going Postal

With Moist in charge of the Ankh Morpork Royal Mint in this latest novel, and returning with a full cast of Ankh Morpork's finest, including Golems and the lovely Adora-Belle Dearhart, Making Money is sure to amuse.

With the release date only just around the corner, you can pre-order your copy now for the bargain price of £12.50 via our shop.

Yes yes, we're a little late with the news, but some of the major cast members have been announced for the upcoming mini-series adaptation of The Colour of Magic from RHI Entertainment, the Mob Film Co. and Sky One.

Quote:
The Colour Magic is the first novel in Pratchett's series of novels set in Discworld, a flat world balanced on the backs of four elephants. It follows Discworld's first-ever tourist, Twoflower (Sean Astin); the inept wizard Rincewind (David Jason); and their scheming nemesis Trymon (Tim Curry). Christopher Lee will voice Death, a prominent character in the novels.

The series, currently in production at Pinewood Studios, is set to air in 2008, though it's never too early to get excited!

As announced on Paul Kidby's website.

» Terry on Tour Report
Quinn recently heard from Terry at the Seattle Book Signing on the 13th of October.

Below are some snippets from his report posted to the alt.fan.pratchett newsgroup, a full version of which can also be found here.

Quote:
The next book has the provisional title "Making Money" and will feature
Moist Von Lipwig.

Quote:
The next book after is the (probably) last Tiffany Aching book, "I Shall Wear Midnight." Not a lot of details, yet.

Quote:
Terry was in fine form, plainly jazzed about the upcoming release of the "Hogfather" movie. He spoke at some length about the cast, the crew, the props, the script and the rushes, some of which he has seen.

Interesting stuff indeed - thanks Quinn!

» Wintersmith On Sale!
Well the next in the Tiffany Aching mini-series has officially been out since last week.

The book, aimed at younger readers (though honestly you old people, you wouldn't know the difference half the time!), comes out at around the same time as the Unseen University Cut Out Book which, as the title suggests allows you to cut out and build your very own Unseen University!

You can get Wintersmith via our shop and grab the Unseen University Cut Out Book from Amazon.co.uk.

(Both links will eventually take you to Amazon.co.uk where there's currently a deal on when you buy both books together).
